Below is our website privacy policy:
1. Edex-CPD's approach to privacy
Edex-CPD respects privacy and is committed to complying with the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. These laws protect the privacy of personal information Edex-CPD holds on customers and other individuals with whom we deal. This privacy policy explains how we handle information we collect.
2. What personal information is collected online
We may collect the following personal information from you online:
- Membership and Electronic mail addresses
To become a member of this site, we ask for your email address, your full name, a password, and professional membership details.
- Tracking use
When you visit the Edex-CPD website, we may collect additional information about your use of the website, which may or may not identify you. We may collect information about which pages you visit on the website to help us determine which parts of the site you value, so that we can build and develop our website to best meet your needs. We also record when you access an online training course and when you sit an exam. We may also collect information about your Internet browser, operating system, address of the referring site, your internet protocol address and clickstream information. This information helps us to understand how you came to find our website. If you are logged in, we can associate your browsing with your membership details. Otherwise, you are treated as an anonymous browser. If you are concerned about identification, you should either not login to the site.
- Searches
Search terms that you enter when using our search engine are collected. We use these search terms to ascertain what people are looking for at this site, and to improve the services that we provide.
- Non-customer information
Sometimes, Edex-CPD needs to collect personal information about individuals who are not customers. This will usually arise where we collect the name and business contact details of a person who is the contact in a government agency or company with whom we deal. Edex-CPD's policy is to only use personal information collected from non-customers for the business purpose for which it was collected.
- Cookies
A cookie is a short piece of data which is sent from a web server to a web browser on the user's machine when the browser visits the server's site. The cookie is stored on the user's computer, but it is not an executable program and cannot do anything to your computer. Whenever a web browser requests a file from the same web server that sent the cookie, the browser sends a copy of that cookie back to the server along with the request. In this way, the server knows you have visited before and can co-ordinate your access to different pages on its web site. A server cannot find out a name or e-mail address, or anything about a user's computer, by using cookies. This system uses cookies to obtain session details for access to parts of our site. Cookies are essential in providing a seamless access to our range of services. Cookie information is not further stored or collected by us. If you choose not to accept cookies from this site, you will not be able to maintain a session-based interaction and will not be able to login.
3. How do we use personal information collected online?
If we collect personal information from you online, we may use it to:
- provide you with our services, or with other information you have requested. This will include use of personal information for establishing and maintaining any necessary accounts or records or billing systems; and
- communicate with you effectively. If you agree, we may use your contact details to notify you about new Edex-CPD products or services or promotions from time to time.
From time to time we may also undertake online customer surveys to collect statistics about our customers for research and product development purposes. These surveys help us to develop new products and services to meet your needs. Again, whether or not you participate in these surveys is your choice.
If at any time you no longer wish to be notified about new Edex-CPD products or services or promotions, please let us know.
We do not show your email address on the site.
4. Is personal information stored safely?
